When I was younger I had a hard time believing in my parent's love for me, or if they cared about me. My home was unhealthy, full of anger, and abusive in many ways. I knew God could speak with us but I needed to hear him for myself, not in church or from someone I knew.
One day I grabbed my Bible and asked God to speak to me in a personal way. I opened to Psalms 27:10 - "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take care of me". I understood then how big God's love was for me and he was the person I could truly trust. It was like my eyes were open and the truth came into my heart. I could see God's love for me and believe that is everything I need.
God continued to speak to me through Scripture and teach me how he cares for me and loves me as a father and mother with His perfect love. A love that took every fear and healed my heart from the trauma.
